Cook Steve’s Ultimate Monte Cristo Club Sandwich

A Monte Cristo sandwich is a combination of meat and cheese cooked French Toast style and dipped in syrup.

Here is mine. Okay. It don’t look Ultimate but this sandwich is a perfect combination of palate pleasing sweet and salty. I had some leftover smokey ham that I sauteed in light butter and brushed with Honey. I added Maple Turkey, Hickory Smoked Bacon, Smoked Provolone, Swiss and Cheddar. My secret kick to this is, instead of milk  I used Eggnog in the egg batter. Just a splash. I know it sounds weird but it added another layer of flavor to this sandwich and it was a hit. Eaters reported that they were weak in the knees.

I used butter. You can use margarine, but Don’t.  Everything is better with butter. Melt it in a pan on med low. Coat one side of each bread slice with the Eggnog batter and pile on the rest. Don’t forget the Maple syrup for dipping…
